Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Phalaśruti-style assurance: hearing the narrative with prīti yields sukha and gati (highest goal).
Significance: Establishes śravaṇa-bhakti as a valid upāya: attentive listening with devotion purifies the paśu and invites anugraha leading toward mukti.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It declares śravaṇa (devout listening) of Shiva’s sacred narrative as a direct means to inner auspiciousness and the highest gati—freedom and fulfillment under Shiva’s grace.
By praising the merit of hearing Shiva’s līlā and teachings, it supports Saguna devotion—approaching Shiva through narrated forms, names, and deeds, which ripen the mind toward realization of the Supreme.
Regular śravaṇa/pāraṇa—listening to or reciting the Shiva Purana with prīti (loving intent), ideally alongside simple devotion such as mental japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
