Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Doctrinally pivotal for Siddhānta ethics: ‘Śiva-naivedya’ is meant to return as prasāda through proper channels; private consumption without offering/permission is treated as offense, reinforcing the need for śuddha-kriyā and guru/āgama-guided conduct.
Offering: naivedya
It highlights bhakti expressed through reverent handling of Śiva’s naivedya and the sanctity of Śiva-prasāda: receiving it with love is treated as intimate participation in worship and a purifier of the devotee’s inner state.
Naivedya is a core upacāra in saguna worship of Śiva—especially in Liṅga-pūjā—where the offering is made to the manifest form and then received as prasāda, reinforcing the devotee’s relationship of service (sevā) to Pati (Śiva).
Offer naivedya with ādarā (reverence) and then partake as prasāda with a grateful, devotional mind; this can be paired with silent japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” while receiving the prasāda.
