prababhūva rahaḥ krīḍā pārvatīśivayoḥ purā | dṛṣṭasya ca suraiśśaṃbhorvīryaṃ bhūmau papāta ha
पूर्वी पार्वती-शिव यांची एक गुप्त क्रीडा उद्भवली. पण देवांनी शंभूला पाहताच त्यांचे दिव्य वीर्य पृथ्वीवर पडले.
Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; it is the Kumāra (Skanda) birth-seed narrative where Śiva’s vīrya becomes the causal ‘seed’ for a divine mission (Tāraka-vadha).
Significance: Frames Skanda’s advent as Śiva’s anugraha to the devas; recitation is traditionally held to remove obstacles to dharma and to strengthen devotion to Umāpati.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: Devas interrupt the divine privacy; Śiva’s vīrya descends to earth as a world-affecting potency.
It presents Shiva’s līlā as purposeful, not merely sensual: even divine energy is governed by dharma and cosmic order, revealing Śiva as Pati whose power manifests in the world for the welfare of beings.
The verse highlights Saguna Śiva—Śambhu with manifest power (śakti/vīrya). In Linga worship, devotees honor this same divine potency as sanctified presence: the Linga signifies Śiva’s transcendent reality while also accommodating His immanent, world-sustaining power.
A practical takeaway is brahmacarya (restraint) and śiva-smaraṇa: channel energy through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and, where traditional, Tripuṇḍra-bhasma and Rudrākṣa as aids to steadiness and purity.
