Sukta 5.41
इति चिन्नु प्रजायै पशुमत्यै देवासो वनते मर्त्यो व आ देवासो वनते मर्त्यो वः । अत्रा शिवां तन्वो धासिमस्या जरां चिन्मे निॠतिर्जग्रसीत ॥
íti cin nu pra-jā́yai paśu-mátyai devā́so vánate mártyo va ā́ devāso vanate mártyo vaḥ | átrā śivā́ṃ tanvò dhāsím asyā́ jarā́ṃ cin me níḥṛtiḥ jagrasīt ||
अशा प्रकारेच, प्रजेसाठी आणि पशुमती—पशुधन/बलसमृद्धीसाठी, हे देवांनो, एक मर्त्य तुम्हांला जिंकतो—होय, एक मर्त्यच तुम्हांला प्राप्त करतो. येथे आम्ही आपल्या देह-स्वरूपात शिव (कल्याणकारी) तनू धारण करू; आणि निॠति—विनाशशक्ती—माझी जरा व क्षय यांनाही ग्रासू नये.
