एता विश्वा विदुषे तुभ्यं वेधो नीथान्यग्ने निण्या वचांसि । निवचना कवये काव्यान्यशंसिषं मतिभिर्विप्र उक्थैः ॥

etā́ víśvā vidúṣe túbhyaṃ vedho nīthā́ny agne niṇyā́ vácāṃsi | ní-vacanā kaváye kā́vyāny áśaṃsiṣaṃ matí-bhir vípra ukthaíḥ ||

हे वेधस्—विधाता—सर्वज्ञ अग्ने, ही सर्व नीथानि (मार्गदर्शक प्रेरणा) आणि वचनांची निण्या (गुप्त) रूपे मी तुझ्यासाठी घडविली आहेत. कवि-ऋषीसाठी ही निवचने (गूढ उच्चार) व काव्यानी (काव्य-सत्ये) आहेत; विप्र मी त्यांना मतिंनी व उक्थांनी—प्रेरित स्तुतिंनी—घोषित केले आहे.
