समिध्यमानः प्रथमानु धर्मा समक्तुभिरज्यते विश्ववारः । शोचिष्केशो घृतनिर्णिक्पावकः सुयज्ञो अग्निर्यजथाय देवान् ॥

samidhyamā́naḥ prathamā́nu dhármā sáṃ aktúbhir ajyate viśvávāraḥ | śocíṣkeśo ghṛtánirnik pāvakáḥ suyajñó agnír yajáthāya devā́n ||

समिध्यमान (प्रज्वलित) होऊन तो ऋत-धर्माप्रमाणे प्रथम अग्रसर होतो; रात्रि-दिवसांनी अभ्यक्त (अभिषिक्त) होतो—सर्व वांछित वरांचा धारक। शोचिष्केश (ज्वाला-केश) व घृतनिर्णिक (घृतासारखी दीप्ती) असलेला पावक—सुयज्ञ (यज्ञ-सिद्ध) अग्नी—देवांच्या यजन (पूजन) कर्मासाठी प्रवृत्त होतो.
