Sukta 3.1
आ देवानामभवः केतुरग्ने मन्द्रो विश्वानि काव्यानि विद्वान् । प्रति मर्ताँ अवासयो दमूना अनु देवान्रथिरो यासि साधन् ॥
ā devānām abhavaḥ ketúr agne mandró viśvā́ni kā́vyāni vidvā́n | práti martā́m̐ avāsayo damūnā́ ánu devā́n rathiró yāsi sā́dhan ||
हे अग्ने! तू देवांचा केतु—संकेत-ज्योती—झालास; मन्द्र (आनंददायक) बळाने तू सर्व काव्य—प्रेरित वाणी व गुह्य ज्ञान—जाणणारा आहेस. हे दमूना (गृह-रक्षक), तू मर्त्यांना देव-धामाकडे उन्मुख करतोस; आणि सिद्ध रथीराप्रमाणे देवांच्या मागोमाग जात, कार्य साधत पुढे चालतोस.
