Sukta 2.10
जोहूत्रो अग्निः प्रथमः पितेवेळस्पदे मनुषा यत्समिद्धः । श्रियं वसानो अमृतो विचेता मर्मृजेन्यः श्रवस्यः स वाजी ॥
johū́tro agníḥ prathamáḥ pitéva íḷas-páde mánuṣā yát sámiddhaḥ | śríyaṃ vásāno amṛ́to vícetā marmṛjényāḥ śravasyàḥ sá vājī́ ||
बहु-आह्वानित अग्नी प्रथम आहे—पित्याप्रमाणे—जेव्हा मनुष्य इळा-पदात त्याला समिद्ध करतात. श्री (दीप्ती/समृद्धी) धारण करून, अमृत, विवेकी—तो मर्मृजेन्य (घासून उजळविला जाणारा) पावक आहे; तोच वाजी (विजयी बल) आणि श्रवस्य (यशोयोग्य कीर्ती) देणारा आहे.
