तन्नु वोचाम रभसाय जन्मने पूर्वं महित्वं वृषभस्य केतवे । ऐधेव यामन्मरुतस्तुविष्वणो युधेव शक्रास्तविषाणि कर्तन ॥
tán nu vocāma rabhasā́ya jánmane pū́rvaṁ mahitváṁ vṛṣabhásya ketáve | aidhéva yā́man marutas tuvi-sváṇo yudhéva śakrās taviṣā́ṇi kartana ||
आता आम्ही त्या आवेगी जन्माचे, त्या वृषभाच्या (बलवानाच्या) आद्य महिमेचे—त्याच्या प्रकाशमय केतू (चिन्हा)साठी—वर्णन करू. हे प्रचंड-नाद करणाऱ्या मरुतांनो, आपल्या गतीत प्रज्वलित अग्नीप्रमाणे; आणि हे शक्र (शक्तिमान) वीरांनो, युद्धात योद्ध्यांप्रमाणे, तुम्ही बल-पराक्रमाची कृत्ये घडविता.
