Sukta 1.161
आपो भूयिष्ठा इत्येको अब्रवीदग्निर्भूयिष्ठ इत्यन्यो अब्रवीत् । वधर्यन्तीं बहुभ्यः प्रैको अब्रवीदृता वदन्तश्चमसाँ अपिंशत ॥
ā́po bhū́yiṣṭhā íty éko abravīd agnír bhū́yiṣṭha íty anyó abravīt | vádharyántīṃ bahúbhyaḥ prá éko abravīd ṛtā́ vádantaś camasā́n apiṃśata ||
“आपः (जल) अधिक होवोत,” असे एकाने म्हटले; “अग्नि अधिक होवो,” असे दुसऱ्याने म्हटले. एकाने अनेकांसाठी पुढे सरकणाऱ्या (शक्ती)चा उद्घोष केला; ऋताची सत्ये उच्चारत त्यांनी ‘चमस’ (पात्रे) घडविली—आनंद/सोम धारण करण्यास योग्य अशी रूपे.
