Rāvaṇa’s Assault on Nīla and Lakṣmaṇa; Hanumān Bears Rāma
सतलाभिहतस्तेनचचालचमुहुर्मुहुः ।स्थित्वामुहूर्तंतेजस्वीस्थैर्यंकृत्वामहामतिः ।।6.59.61।।आजघानाभिसङ्कृद्धस्तलेनैवामरद्विषम् ।
sa talābhihatas tena cacāla ca muhur muhuḥ | sthitvā muhūrtaṃ tejasvī sthairyaṃ kṛtvā mahāmatiḥ ||6.59.61|| ājaghāna abhisaṅkruddhas talenai vāmaradviṣam |
त्याच्या तळहाताच्या प्रहाराने हनुमान वारंवार डगमगला. मग तो तेजस्वी महामती क्षणभर स्थिर उभा राहिला; स्थैर्य सावरून, क्रोधाने प्रज्वलित होऊन, देवद्वेष्टा (रावण) यासही तळहातानेच प्रहार केला.
Smacked by him (Ravana), Hanuman, a brilliant and intelligent one stood firm for a while and picking up courage, highly enraged struck the enemy of gods with his palm.
Dharma includes disciplined strength: even when shaken, Hanumān restores self-control (steadiness) before acting. The sequence suggests that righteous power is guided by composure, not blind reaction.
Rāvaṇa strikes Hanumān; Hanumān staggers, regains balance, and retaliates by striking Rāvaṇa.
Hanumān’s fortitude and presence of mind—he recovers steadiness first, then responds with force.
