तौ तत्र हत्वा चतुरो महामृगान्वराहमृश्यं पृषतं महारुरुम्।आदाय मेध्यं त्वरितं बुभुक्षितौवासाय काले ययतुर्वनस्पतिम्।।2.52.102।।
tau tatra hatvā caturo mahāmṛgān varāham ṛśyaṃ pṛṣataṃ mahārurum | ādāya medhyaṃ tvaritaṃ bubhukṣitau vāsāya kāle yayatur vanaspatim ||
तेथे भुकेने व्याकुळ झालेल्या त्या दोघांनी चार महामृग—वराह, ऋश्य-मृग, पृषत (चित्तेदार हरिण) आणि महान रुरु—यांचा वध केला। मेध्य असे शुद्ध मांस त्वरेने घेऊन, संध्याकाळी निवासासाठी ते एका वृक्षाजवळ गेले।
