FAQs

Pāraṇa is the formal conclusion of a vrata or fast, commonly marked by breaking the fast according to rule and often feeding or honoring a brāhmaṇa; it signifies completion and proper closure of the vow.

It highlights devotion expressed through respectful salutation (praṇāma) and reverent service—honoring the brāhmaṇa with dakṣiṇā—showing bhakti as embodied conduct, not merely sentiment.

The verse underscores gratitude and propriety: completing religious observances correctly, respecting learned persons, giving appropriate compensation (dakṣiṇā), and involving one’s household in righteous practice.
