The Description of Mandara (Mandaropavarṇanam) in the Mohinī Narrative
दशवर्षसहस्राख्ये काले महति गच्छति । केयूरघर्षणे येन कृतं देवस्य चक्रिणः ॥ ११ ॥
daśavarṣasahasrākhye kāle mahati gacchati | keyūragharṣaṇe yena kṛtaṃ devasya cakriṇaḥ || 11 ||
दहा हजार वर्षे म्हणविला जाणारा तो महान् काळ सरत गेला; आणि त्याने चक्रधारी देवासाठी (विष्णूसाठी) केयूर-घर्षण केले।
Suta (narrating Purāṇic account; dialogue frame traditionally linked to Nārada–Sanatkumāra teachings)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: vira (heroic)
Secondary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
It highlights steadfast, long-duration devotion where service (seva) to Viṣṇu continues even across an immense period of time, emphasizing endurance and single-pointed worship.
Bhakti is shown as embodied service to the Lord—here symbolized by attending to the Lord’s ornaments—indicating intimate, personal devotion rather than merely theoretical reverence.
The verse chiefly stresses kāla (time-measurement) and disciplined continuity of practice; while not a technical Vedāṅga lesson, it resonates with Jyotiṣa-style awareness of time periods used to frame vows and observances.
