saṃtarpya śrāddhakṛnmartyo neha bhūyo'bhijāyate | saṃgameśaṃ samabhyarcya na naro durgatiṃ vrajet || 41 ||
Narada (narrating the Tirtha-Mahatmya to the Sanatkumara brothers)
Vrata: none
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"shanta","secondary_rasa":"bhakti","emotional_journey":"From dutiful ancestral satisfaction (śrāddha) to confident assurance of liberation from rebirth and protection from evil destiny through worship."}
It declares the salvific power of properly performed Śrāddha (propitiating the Pitṛs) and the merit of worship at Sangameśa—both described as preventing rebirth and protecting from durgati (a fallen or painful post-mortem state).
Bhakti is expressed through reverent worship (samabhyarcya) of Sangameśa at the tīrtha; the text links sincere worship with spiritual protection and auspicious destiny.
It points to correct ritual performance in Śrāddha (a Smārta/kalpa-based rite under Vedāṅga Kalpa), emphasizing proper tarpaṇa and offerings as the practical discipline.
