Glory of Puruṣottama: Pañcatīrthī Observance and Narasiṃha Worship
मार्गंडेयह्रदं गत्वा स्नात्वा चोदङ्मुखः शुचिः । निमज्जेत्तत्र त्रीन्वारानिमं मंत्रमुदीरयेत् ॥ १३ ॥
mārgaṃḍeyahradaṃ gatvā snātvā codaṅmukhaḥ śuciḥ | nimajjettatra trīnvārānimaṃ maṃtramudīrayet || 13 ||
मार्कंडेय ह्रदात जाऊन स्नान करून, उत्तराभिमुख व शुद्ध होऊन, तेथे तीनदा डुबकी घ्यावी आणि हा मंत्र उच्चारावा।
Narada (narrating the tirtha-vidhi, in dialogue context with Sanatkumara tradition)
Vrata: Pañcatīrthī (continuation of the introduced observance)
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"shanta","secondary_rasa":"bhakti","emotional_journey":"From purposeful arrival at a sacred lake to disciplined purification actions, building toward mantra-recitation as focused devotion."}
It prescribes a precise tirtha-snāna method—purity, north-facing orientation, and triple immersion with mantra—showing that pilgrimage merit in the Narada Purana is tied to disciplined ritual action (vidhi) rather than mere travel.
Bhakti here is expressed as reverent observance: the devotee approaches the sacred water with śauca (purity) and mantra-japa, turning an external bath into an act of inward surrender and remembrance.
It reflects Kalpa (ritual procedure) through the rule-based snāna-vidhi, and hints at Jyotiṣa/dik-niyama through the prescribed orientation (udāṅmukha—facing north) used in many Vedic rites.
