viṃdhyācchataguṇā proktā kāśīpuryāṃ tu jāhnavī | sarvatra durlabhā gaṃgā triṣu sthāneṣu cādhikā || 26 ||
Suta (narrating the tirtha-mahatmya dialogue, traditionally conveying Narada-Purana teachings)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It elevates Kāśī as an exceptionally potent tirtha and teaches that the same sacred river (Gaṅgā) yields heightened spiritual fruit when approached in especially sanctified locations.
By praising Gaṅgā-in-Kāśī as uniquely meritorious, the verse supports bhakti expressed through reverent pilgrimage, sacred bathing, and remembrance of the divine in a holy kṣetra.
Primarily kalpa (ritual practice): it implies the tirtha-based discipline of Ganga-snāna and kṣetra-sevā, where place-specific rules and merits guide dharmic observance.
