It introduces a teaching on how the merit (phala) of Gaṅgā-bathing varies by auspicious timing (kāla-viśeṣa), framing tīrtha-snāna as a deliberate dharmic practice rather than a casual act.
By preparing to praise the fruit of Gaṅgā-snāna, the verse points to devotion expressed through sacred acts—approaching a holy tīrtha with attentiveness and reverence as a form of bhakti-in-action.
The focus on kāla-viśeṣa hints at Jyotiṣa-style ritual timing—choosing specific auspicious times for rites to maximize spiritual merit.
