The Account of Mohinī (Mohinī-kathanam): Ekādaśī Nirṇaya, Daśamī Boundary, and Aruṇodaya
विमोहितं चैव जगन्मयेदं प्रांते समास्थाय यमस्य तिथ्याः । जितो हि राज्ञा शमनः पुराद्य कृतो जयी तात तव प्रभावात् ॥ ३० ॥
vimohitaṃ caiva jaganmayedaṃ prāṃte samāsthāya yamasya tithyāḥ | jito hi rājñā śamanaḥ purādya kṛto jayī tāta tava prabhāvāt || 30 ||
Narada (narrative voice within Uttara-Bhaga dialogue tradition)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It frames worldly life as delusion-bound and time-limited under Yama’s jurisdiction, yet declares that dharmic/spiritual power (prabhāva) can transcend fear of death and even “defeat” Yama’s restraint.
By implying that a higher spiritual influence can override Yama’s claim, the verse aligns with the Purāṇic bhakti theme: surrender to the divine and accumulation of sacred merit protect the devotee from the terror of death and judgment.
The mention of “tithi” points to calendrical reckoning used in ritual timing (Jyotiṣa Vedāṅga), emphasizing that time (kāla) and auspicious/appointed days structure vrata, dāna, and tīrtha observances.
