FAQs

It highlights the extraordinary steadiness of tapas: sustained prāṇāyāma and inner restraint can be maintained even amid severe conditions, symbolizing mastery over body and mind for purification and higher realization.

Though the verse is yogic in language, in the Purāṇic frame such austerity is typically undertaken as an offering to the Supreme—discipline (yoga/tapas) becomes supportive to bhakti by purifying the heart and stabilizing attention for remembrance.

No specific Vedāṅga is taught directly; the practical takeaway is yogic sādhanā—regulated breath (prāṇāyāma) and time-bound observance—often paired in Purāṇas with vrata-style discipline and tirtha-based practice.
