FAQs

It highlights dharma expressed as responsibility: spiritual maturity is shown by accepting rightful instruction and dedicating oneself to the welfare of others, especially the protection and nurturing of society (prajā).

Indirectly, it frames service as devotion-in-action: obeying righteous authority and working for the good of beings becomes an offering aligned with dharma, which supports a sattvic mind conducive to bhakti.

The verse emphasizes niti and rajadharma (applied dharma) rather than a specific Vedanga technique; it teaches disciplined conduct (śīlana) and adherence to ājñā (authoritative instruction), principles that also underpin correct ritual and textual practice.
