चतुःशतं समारभ्य सहस्रार्णावधि द्विज । अतिवृद्धाः प्रयोगेषु शिथिलास्ते समीरिताः ॥ ५७ ॥

catuḥśataṃ samārabhya sahasrārṇāvadhi dvija | ativṛddhāḥ prayogeṣu śithilāste samīritāḥ || 57 ||

हे द्विजा! चारशेपासून हजार वर्णांपर्यंत जे मंत्र असतात, ते अतिदीर्घ मानले गेले आहेत; आणि प्रयोगकर्मात ते शिथिल होऊन बहुधा निष्फळ ठरतात.
