एकदा ते महात्मानः समाजं चक्रुरुतमाः । धर्मार्थकाममोक्षाणामुपायाञ्ज्ञातुमिच्छवः ॥ ९ ॥

ekadā te mahātmānaḥ samājaṃ cakrurutamāḥ | dharmārthakāmamokṣāṇāmupāyāñjñātumicchavaḥ || 9 ||

एकदा ते श्रेष्ठ महात्मे ऋषी सभा भरवून एकत्र झाले, धर्म-अर्थ-काम-मोक्ष यांच्या प्राप्तीचे उपाय जाणण्याची इच्छा करून.
