Even conflicts among the spiritually advanced can endanger social and cosmic stability when driven by passion. The text frames Brahmā’s intervention as a restoration of dharma: correction is undertaken not to ‘punish’ but to secure the welfare (hita) of the disputants and the world.
Primarily within Vaṃśānucarita/Carita (narratives of persons and events) rather than Sarga/Pratisarga. It is an ethical-illustrative episode embedded in the Purāṇic historical storytelling mode.
‘Tiryag-bhāva’ symbolizes consciousness degraded by tamas (delusion/instinct). Brahmā dispelling it signifies the reassertion of sattvic discernment so that tapas and dharma can resume their proper course.
