तपस्यन्तं ततस्तञ्च प्राह देवः प्रजापतिः ।

किमर्थं तप्यसे वत्स ! तपस्तीव्रं वदस्व तत् ॥

tapasyantaṃ tatastañca prāha devaḥ prajāpatiḥ / kimarthaṃ tapyase vatsa! tapastīvraṃ vadasva tat

तेव्हा तो तपात मग्न असताना देव प्रजापती त्याला म्हणाले—‘प्रिय बालका, तू कोणत्या हेतूने हे तीव्र तप करीत आहेस? मला सांग.’
