Adhyaya 40 — The Yogin’s Impediments (Upasargas), Subtle Concentrations, and the Eight Siddhis
सूक्ष्मास्तु धारणाः सप्त भूराद्या मूर्ध्नि धारयेत् ।
धरित्रीं धारयेद्योगी तत् सौक्ष्म्यं प्रतिपद्यते ॥
sūkṣmāstu dhāraṇāḥ sapta bhūrādyā mūrdhni dhārayet | dharitrīṃ dhārayedyogī tat saukṣmyaṃ pratipadyate ||

The path described is methodical: refinement proceeds through staged concentrations, implying disciplined progression rather than impulsive mystical pursuit.
Practical yoga-vidhi; not a pañcalakṣaṇa narrative element.
The ‘seven’ suggests a graded interiorization of the bhūtas/tanmatras culminating in increasingly subtle identity-shifts; the crown locus hints at ascent of awareness beyond gross embodiment.
