चचाल व्यनदच्चोर्वी तमोभूतं जगद् बभौ । ततस्तद् दारुणं दृष्टवा क्षुभित: शड्करस्तदा
cacāla vyanadac corvī tamobhūtaṁ jagad babhau | tatas tad dāruṇaṁ dṛṣṭvā kṣubhitaḥ śaṅkaras tadā ||
पृथ्वी हलली व गर्जना करू लागली; सारे जग अंधाराने आच्छादित झाल्यासारखे दिसू लागले. ते दारुण अपशकुन पाहून तेव्हा भगवान शंकर क्षुब्ध झाले।
