हृष्टपुष्टजनाकीर्णा नित्योत्सवसमाकुलाम् | सो<पश्यद् बहुवृत्तान्तां ब्राह्मण: समतिक्रमन्
hṛṣṭapuṣṭajanākīrṇā nityotsavasamākulām | so 'paśyad bahuvṛttāntāṃ brāhmaṇaḥ samatikraman
मार्कंडेय म्हणाले—तो ब्राह्मण मार्गक्रमण करीत असता एक नगरी त्याच्या दृष्टीस पडली; ती हृष्ट-पुष्ट, आनंदी जनांनी गजबजलेली, नित्य उत्सवांनी भरलेली आणि अनेक प्रकारच्या घडामोडींनी परिपूर्ण होती.
