Adhyāya 208: Aṅgirasī-kanyāḥ
Enumeration of Aṅgiras’ daughters and attribute-names
पण्यैश्व बहुभियुक्तां सुविभक्तमहापथाम् । अश्व रथैस्तथा नागैयोचधैश्व बहुभिय्युताम्
paṇyaiś ca bahubhir yuktāṃ suvibhakta-mahāpathām | aśva-rathais tathā nāgair yodhaiś ca bahubhir yutām ||
मार्कण्डेय म्हणाले: ती नगरी अनेक पण्यवस्तूंनी समृद्ध होती; तिचे विशाल राजमार्ग सु-विभक्त व सु-व्यवस्थित होते. तसेच ती अश्व, रथ, हत्ती आणि अनेक योद्ध्यांनीही गजबजलेली होती.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights an ideal of well-ordered prosperity: a realm is praised when commerce is active, infrastructure is properly organized, and defense is strong—suggesting that good governance harmonizes economic welfare with public order and security.
Mārkaṇḍeya is describing a flourishing, well-organized place—marked by abundant trade goods, well-planned major roads, and a visible presence of military resources such as horses, chariots, elephants, and many warriors.
