Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the outward signs of a kṣatriya’s readiness—armor, helmet, and proclaimed valor—while implicitly reminding the listener that in war, splendor and strength do not remove the ethical gravity of violence; they only show resolve to act within one’s chosen duty.

Sañjaya describes a warrior preparing for combat: he dons an ornate golden cuirass and a Jāmbūnada-gold helmet, emphasizing his formidable prowess as the battle action intensifies in Droṇa Parva.
