Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line (च्यवन–कुशिक संवादः)
निश्चित्य मनसा सर्व गुणदोषबलाबलम् | दग्धुकाम: कुलं सर्व कुशिकानां तपोधन:
niścitya manasā sarva-guṇa-doṣa-balābalam | dagdhukāmaḥ kulaṃ sarvaṃ kuśikānāṃ tapodhanaḥ |
भीष्म म्हणाले—पूर्वीच भृगुपुत्र च्यवनाला हे कळले होते की कुशिकवंशातील कन्येशी विवाहसंबंध झाल्यास त्याच्या स्वतःच्या वंशात क्षात्रत्वाचा मोठा दोष उत्पन्न होईल. म्हणून त्या तपोधन मुनिश्रेष्ठाने मनातच सर्व गुण-दोष व बल-अबल यांचा विचार करून दृढ निश्चय केला आणि कुशिकांच्या संपूर्ण कुलाला भस्म करण्याच्या इच्छेने कुशिक राजाकडे प्रस्थान केले.
