गरुड उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: when approached by an elder—especially one’s father—one should respond with appropriate, truthful, and respectful communication, maintaining propriety (yathā-nyāyam).
Garuḍa meets his father, the sage Kaśyapa. After being questioned, Garuḍa reports his welfare and situation properly; then Kaśyapa begins to speak to him, setting up the next instruction or dialogue.
