Sukta 4
vaśā́ mātā́ rājanyàsya táthā sámbhūtam agraśáḥ | tásyā āhúr ánarpaṇam yád bráhmabhyaḥ pradīyáte ||
The Vashā is the mother of the Rājanya; thus was it generated from the first beginning. Of her, they say, the gift is not to be reclaimed—when she is bestowed upon the Brahmans.
Rishi: Traditionally Atharvanic/Aṅgirasa transmission (specific r̥ṣi not explicit in the verse-unit).
Devata: Vaśā (personified ritual cow) / Brāhmaṇa-dāna as sacral principle.
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (4 pādas of ~8 syllables; Atharvanic anuṣṭubh style).
