ज्येष्ठांशम्प्राप्नुयाच्चास्य यवीयान् गुणतो ऽधिकः महापापोपपन्नानामिति ङ प्रायश्चित्तं वदामि त इति झ प्रेतवत् सदेति ख , ग , घ , ङ च प्रायश्चित्ते तु चरिते पूर्णं कुम्भमपां नवं

jyeṣṭhāṃśamprāpnuyāccāsya yavīyān guṇato 'dhikaḥ mahāpāpopapannānāmiti ṅa prāyaścittaṃ vadāmi ta iti jha pretavat sadeti kha , ga , gha , ṅa ca prāyaścitte tu carite pūrṇaṃ kumbhamapāṃ navaṃ

या प्रसंगी गुणाने श्रेष्ठ असलेला कनिष्ठ (भाऊ/नातेवाईक) ज्येष्ठाचा हिस्सा प्राप्त करील. महापापाने कलुषित झालेल्यांसाठी—पाठभेदानुसार—मी प्रायश्चित्त सांगतो. काही पाठांत ‘प्रेतवत्’ (अशौचयुक्त) मानावे असे आहे. प्रायश्चित्त पूर्ण झाल्यावर नवीन, पाण्याने भरलेला पूर्ण कलश अर्पण करावा.
