FAQs

Ayurvedic pharmaceutics: it prescribes a medicated fermented drink (mairīyaka) made using specific plant juices (garlic, fresh ginger, moringa or banana) combined with classical strengthening and vāta-pacifying herbs (balā, śatāvarī, rāsnā, guḍūcī).

Beyond theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves practical medical recipes—detailing ingredients, method cues (juices taken separately), and dosage-form (fermented liquor)—showing its broad coverage of applied sciences like Ayurveda.

While primarily therapeutic, such regulated, text-sanctioned remedies reflect dharmic self-care (maintaining the body as an instrument for duty, worship, and austerity), emphasizing disciplined use rather than indulgence.
