FAQs

It gives an Ayurvedic therapeutic recipe and its clinical indication: a compound of specific herbs with honey, rock-salt, and urine used to cure vidradhi and to induce paripāka (suppuration/ripening) so the abscess can resolve.

Beyond theology, the Agni Purana preserves practical medical protocols—drug selection, adjuvants, and treatment goals—showing its wide scope as a compendium of applied sciences such as Ayurveda alongside ritual, polity, and arts.

As a Purāṇic teaching, it frames healing knowledge as dharmic welfare (lokānugraha): preserving life and reducing suffering is treated as a meritorious application of sacred, transmitted knowledge.
