The Birth of Mahiṣāsura and the Goddess’s Victory as Mahīṣamardinī

FAQs

It illustrates a common Purāṇic narrative technique: expressing mythic events through vast cosmic time (divine years) and universe-scale imagery (brahmāṇḍa), reflecting early medieval Sanskrit literary cosmology.

No specific geographic location is named in this verse; the setting is the battlefield (ājau) framed at a cosmic scale (brahmāṇḍa).

Rather than a direct moral injunction, the verse emphasizes the gravity of disorder (cosmic fear) during prolonged conflict, a recurring Purāṇic motif that frames the restoration of stability as culturally valuable.
