महातपा उवाच । पितॄणां सम्भवं राजन् कथ्यमानं निबोध मे । पूर्वं प्रजापतिब्रह्मा सिसृक्षुर्विविधाः प्रजाः ॥ ३४.१ ॥

mahātapā uvāca | pitṝṇāṃ sambhavaṃ rājan kathyamānaṃ nibodha me | pūrvaṃ prajāpati-brahmā sisṛkṣur vividhāḥ prajāḥ || 34.1 ||

മഹാതപാ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ രാജാവേ, പിതൃന്മാരുടെ ഉത്ഭവത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് പറയപ്പെടുന്ന വൃത്താന്തം എന്നിൽ നിന്നു ഗ്രഹിക്ക. പൂർവ്വകാലത്ത് പ്രജാപതി ബ്രഹ്മാവ് വിവിധ പ്രജകളെ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുവാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു (സൃഷ്ടിക്രിയ ആരംഭിച്ചു).
