यम उवाच ॥ इदं पुण्यं पवित्रं च ह्यशुभानां शुभप्रदम् ॥ कीर्तयिष्यामि ते सम्यक्पापदोषक्षयं सदा ॥

yama uvāca || idaṃ puṇyaṃ pavitraṃ ca hy aśubhānāṃ śubhapradam || kīrtayiṣyāmi te samyak pāpadoṣakṣayaṃ sadā ||

യമൻ പറഞ്ഞു: ഇത് പുണ്യകരവും പവിത്രവും ആയ ഉപദേശം; അശുഭത്തിൽ പീഡിതർക്കു ശുഭം നൽകുന്നതും—പാപദോഷങ്ങളുടെ നിത്യ ക്ഷയത്തിനായി—ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് ശരിയായി പ്രസ്താവിക്കും.
