मथुरावासिनं श्रुत्वा गोकर्णं स शुकस्तदा ॥ पुत्रं संस्थाप्य चात्मानं गोकर्णस्य यथेप्सितम् ॥

mathurā-vāsinaṃ śrutvā gokarṇaṃ sa śukas tadā | putraṃ saṃsthāpya cātmānaṃ gokarṇasya yathepsitam ||

ഗോകർണൻ മഥുരാവാസിയാണെന്ന് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ, അന്ന് ശുകൻ—തന്റെ പുത്രനെയും തനെയും യഥാവിധി സ്ഥാപിച്ച്—ഗോകർണന്റെ അഭിലാഷപ്രകാരം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.
