त्यक्त्वा ऋषिसहस्राणि शूद्रमेव भजाम्यहम् ॥ चातुर्वर्ण्यस्य कर्माणि यत्त्वया परिपृच्छितम्
tyaktvā ṛṣisahasrāṇi śūdram eva bhajāmy aham || cāturvarṇyasya karmāṇi yat tvayā paripṛcchitam
ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ഋഷിമാരെ വിട്ടുവെച്ചിട്ടും ഞാൻ ഒരൊറ്റ ശൂദ്രനെയും ഭജിക്കുന്നു; നീ ചോദിച്ച ചാതുര്വര്ണ്യത്തിന്റെ കര്മ്മങ്ങളെ ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു।
