अगस्त्य उवाच । विष्णुशर्मेति विख्यातः पुराभूद्ब्राह्मणोत्तमः । वेदवेदांगतत्त्वज्ञो धर्मकर्मसमाश्रितः
agastya uvāca | viṣṇuśarmeti vikhyātaḥ purābhūdbrāhmaṇottamaḥ | vedavedāṃgatattvajño dharmakarmasamāśritaḥ
അഗസ്ത്യൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പുരാതനകാലത്ത് ‘വിഷ്ണുശർമ’ എന്ന പേരിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധനായ ഒരു ഉത്തമ ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം വേദ-വേദാംഗ തത്ത്വജ്ഞനും ധർമ്മകർമ്മങ്ങളിൽ സ്ഥാപിതനുമായിരുന്നു.
