yaḥ śṛṇoti mahādevi māhātmyaṃ daivadevatam | mūrkho vā paṃḍito vā'pi sa yāti paramāṃ gatim
Īśvara (Śiva)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra (Vṛṣabheśvara/Kalpaliṅga māhātmya)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Mahādevī (Pārvatī)
Scene: Śiva assures Devī that anyone—fool or scholar—who hears the divine māhātmya attains the supreme goal; the scene emphasizes listening: sages, common folk, and pilgrims seated together, sound-waves of mantra-like narration flowing toward a radiant liṅga.
Śravaṇa (devotional listening) to a tīrtha’s māhātmya is itself a liberating practice, accessible to all regardless of scholarship.
The māhātmya being heard concerns Vṛṣabheśvara/Kalpaliṅga in Prabhāsakṣetra.
Śravaṇa—listening attentively to the māhātmya as a devotional observance.
