मधुकैटभयोः पूर्वं मेदोमांसपरिप्लुता । वसुन्धारयते यस्माद्वसुधा तेन कीर्तिता
madhukaiṭabhayoḥ pūrvaṃ medomāṃsapariplutā | vasundhārayate yasmādvasudhā tena kīrtitā
മധു–കൈടഭരുടെ (വധത്തിന്) മുമ്പ് അവൾ മേദസ്സും മാംസവും നിറഞ്ഞു മുങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ‘വസു’—സമ്പത്തും ജീവജാലങ്ങളും—ധരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ അവൾ ‘വസുധാ’ എന്നു കീര്ത്തിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
