Transliteration

saṃyogajasya pāpasya haraṇāddhariṇī smṛtā | nadī puṇyajalopetā saptāhamavagāhanāt

Translation

അനുചിതസംഗമജന്യ പാപം ഹരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ അവൾ ‘ഹരിണീ’ എന്നു സ്മരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. പുണ്യജലസമ്പന്നയായ ആ നദിയിൽ ഏഴ് ദിവസം അവഗാഹനം ചെയ്താൽ ശുദ്ധി ലഭിക്കുന്നു।
