yadā śapto mahādevo hyajñānatimirāvṛtaiḥ | ṛṣibhiḥ kopayuktaiśca kasmiṃścitkāraṇāṃtare

ഒരു സമയത്ത് ഏതോ പ്രത്യേക കാരണാന്തരത്താൽ, അജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ അന്ധകാരത്തിൽ മൂടപ്പെട്ടും കോപത്തിൽ ആകുലരുമായ ഋഷിമാർ മഹാദേവനെ ശപിച്ചു.
