īśvara uvāca | evaṃ devi samāyātā devadāruvane nadī | ṛṣitoyeti vikhyātā pavitrā ca varānane
Īśvara (Śiva)
Tirtha: Ṛṣitoyā (in Devadāruvana, Prabhāsa-kṣetra)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Devī (Pārvatī)
Scene: Śiva narrates to Devī as a luminous river enters a cedar-like devadāru grove; sages stand on the banks, the river personified as a goddess with a calm, purifying aura.
A tīrtha’s greatness is affirmed by divine testimony: its purity and fame are rooted in sacred origin and purpose.
Devadāru-vana within Prabhāsa-kṣetra, where the Ṛṣitoyā river/tīrtha is established.
No direct prescription; the verse functions as a māhātmya-style certification of the river’s purifying nature.
