tataḥ sa pṛthivīpālaḥ sāmnā cogreṇa ca svayam | paryapṛcchatsuhṛdvargaṃ pratyajānanna caiva te

പിന്നീട് ആ ഭൂപാലൻ (രാജാവ്) ചിലപ്പോൾ മൃദുവചനങ്ങളാലും ചിലപ്പോൾ കഠിനവചനങ്ങളാലും സ്വയം തന്റെ സുഹൃദ്‌വൃന്ദത്തെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തു; എങ്കിലും അവർ ആ കാര്യത്തിൽ ഒന്നും സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല.
