paryuṣita uvāca | na me jātā gatirvipra maṃdabhāgyasya pāpinaḥ | mayā hṛtaṃ taḍāgārthaṃ yadvittaṃ praguṇīkṛtam
Paryuṣita
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Gautama (brāhmaṇa-śreṣṭha)
Scene: In the dream, Paryuṣita confesses: he had seized carefully accumulated wealth meant for building a pond; his face shows shame and fear, hands trembling, as the brāhmaṇa listens with gravity.
Misusing wealth dedicated to dharmic works (like water-reservoirs) obstructs spiritual progress and leads to suffering after death.
The episode unfolds within Prabhāsakṣetra Māhātmya; the remedy is later tied to Haripriya Tīrtha.
The verse itself is confessional; the ritual remedy (śrāddha at a particular tīrtha) is requested in subsequent verses.
