स्कांदं नाम पुराणं तदेकाशीति निगद्यते । सहस्राणि शतं चैकमिति मर्त्येषु पठ्यते
skāṃdaṃ nāma purāṇaṃ tadekāśīti nigadyate | sahasrāṇi śataṃ caikamiti martyeṣu paṭhyate
‘സ്കാന്ദ’ എന്ന പുരാണം എൺപത്തൊന്ന് ആയിരം (ശ്ലോകങ്ങൾ) എന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു; എന്നാൽ മർത്ത്യലോകത്തിൽ അത് ‘ഒരു ലക്ഷം ഒരു ആയിരം’ എന്നു പാരായണം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നു.
